Celebrate Pride Month during Pride Fest Weekend! The Boystown section of Lakeview holds the distinction of being the nation's first officially recognized gay village. It is also the cultural center of one of the largest LGBTQI+ communities in the nation. The area caters to Chicago nightlife, with more than 60 gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender bars, restaurants and nightclubs. It is also home to Center on Halsted, a LGBTQI+ community center that hosts an array of public programs open to the public. The area’s history is on display with the Legacy Walk, which commemorates notable LGBTQI+ heroes and historic events.
